So how will you choose your instructor?
That's a difficult one to answer. So many times i get pupils phone me and ask the price, almost as if it were as simple as buying a can of baked beans from the supermarket. This is where the problem usually starts.
You should really be asking what i teach and has anyone ever passed the test with me.
Did they go on to be good safe drivers or did they lose their licence before the two year probation had ended - maybe they crashed the car or killed someone. It is easy to forget that we are teaching you to drive and stay alive not just to get passed the Dsa test.
In recent years the driving test has got progressivly harder. I remember when i started to drive. I had twelve lessons and passed the test first time - sound familiar. Bacon was three pence a loaf and you could have a good night out and a taxi and still have change from a pound ! Seriously though. When i took my test, the test was fairly simple. I seem to think that i got up to thirty five mph for a couple of minutes, did the usual maneouvres and then back to the test centre in about twenty five minutes - then the three theory questions and i passed ! These days, you will have to pass the hazard perception test and theory test. Then you will be allowed to take a practical test.
BUT WAIT! Are you ready yet?
The current test is set against the perfect driver, anything you do which is not considered to be perfect will result in a minor or, serious or even dangerous depending upon the severity of your mistake. You will be allowed a maximum of fifteen minors and no serious or dangerous errors.
WHY
When someone has a crash - the first thing they say is " I didn't see it"
Do things right = Do it once = safe driving for life!
